Castanea Sativa 1002 (Chestnut)

Castanea Sativa 1002 is a NZ-selected chestnut variety (Castanea sativa) producing small to medium sized nuts. A very vigorous variety that grows very large — better suited to larger sections and rural properties where space allows for a substantial tree. Chestnuts are harvested in autumn, roasted, boiled or dried for winter use. A reliable cropper once established. Cross-pollination with another Castanea variety improves nut set significantly.
