Castanea Sativa (Sweet Chestnut)

The Castanea Sativa, or Sweet Chestnut is a medium sized, spreading tree with glossy green and producing edible nuts. The nuts are best enjoyed roasted or preserved. Best planted in full sun with acidic type soils that are well-draining. Useful as a feature tree that provides good shade during the Summer months. Drought tolerant once established.
