Castanea 1005 (Chestnut)

Castanea 1005 chestnut trees have always been popular with keen orchardists but do need significant space. Medium to large, high quality, sweet nuts fall free of their prickly burr at the end of summer. Very heavy crops on mature trees. Grafted, fruits when 3–5 years old. The tree is very vigorous and grows large. It is a good pollinator for variety 1015. Cross-pollination with another Castanea variety is essential — chestnuts are not self-fertile.
