Cara Cara (Pink Navel)

Cara Cara is a pink-fleshed navel orange, not a blood orange. Its distinctive pink-to-red flesh colour comes from lycopene, the same carotenoid found in watermelon and tomatoes, rather than the anthocyanins that give true blood oranges their colour. The flavour is notably low in acid and very sweet, with more depth and richness than a standard navel orange, and some describe berry or rose notes. Virtually seedless. Needs plenty of sun, warmth and protection from hard frosts.
