Campanica

Campanica is an Italian hazelnut variety producing plenty of large nuts with good, rich flavour — one of the larger-nutted hazelnut varieties available in NZ. Well suited to drier NZ regions. A productive and reliable variety. Requires a pollinator — plant with Barcelona, Tonda di Giffoni or Merveille de Bollwiller. Deciduous shrub to 4–5m. Nuts harvested March to April. Hazelnuts are versatile — excellent roasted, in baking and confectionery. Available from specialist NZ nut nurseries.
