Butternut (Juglans Cinerea)

The Butternut (Juglans cinerea) is a North American walnut species suited to many climates — originating across eastern North America from New Brunswick to Georgia. Its nuts are commercially used to make maple butternut confectionery. Its flowers are yellowish-green. Not tolerant of tropical temperatures — best suited to temperate NZ conditions. Deciduous. Self-fertile. An unusual and interesting alternative to the common English walnut. Growing to approximately 15m.
