Burbank (Almond)

Burbank is a soft-shelled almond variety producing sweet, mild-flavoured nuts that are easy to crack open by hand. Self-fertile and a regular, heavy cropper — two significant advantages for the home garden. Named for the celebrated American plant breeder Luther Burbank. Thrives in a sunny position with free-draining soil and shelter from late spring frosts which can damage the early blossoms. Deciduous. Growing to 4–5m. Available at Wairere Nursery and specialist NZ almond nurseries.
