Brown Turkey

Brown Turkey is one of the most widely grown and reliable fig varieties available in New Zealand. Despite the name, the fruit is predominantly green-brown in colour rather than the deep brown of some other varieties. It produces large, reliable crops of figs with white to amber flesh that is sweet and richly flavoured when fully ripe. Hardy and adaptable, Brown Turkey is one of the more cold-tolerant fig varieties and performs well in most NZ growing regions. Self-fertile. Ripens from February.
