Boskoop Rouge

Boskoop Rouge is the red-flushed sport of the classic Dutch heritage apple Belle de Boskoop, which originated in the Netherlands in 1856. It produces large, somewhat irregular and lumpy fruit with a predominantly dark red skin over a yellow base, and firm, coarse, juicy white-green flesh with a full, aromatic, tart flavour. The high acidity makes it excellent for cooking and baking, and the flavour mellows and sweetens in storage. A strong keeper, storing for three to four months or more. A triploid variety requiring a pollinator.
