Black Forest

Black Forest is an easy-to-grow black currant that starts producing fruit as a young plant — minimal waiting time before the first harvest. Frost tolerant and a reliable cropper. Flavourful dark berries rich in vitamin C and anthocyanins. Self-fertile. A practical, low-fuss variety for home gardens. Grows to approximately 1.5m. Black currants are excellent for jam, cordial, health drinks and fresh eating — though most find them too tart to eat in large quantities fresh. Available at Wairere Nursery.
