Big Red

Big Red is a Japanese plum variety producing large, red-skinned, juicy and sweet fruit — similar in character to Purple King but ripening slightly later in the season. A substantial, attractive plum for fresh eating. Mid-season. The large fruit size and sweet flavour make it a satisfying fresh eating plum. Requires a pollinator such as Santa Rosa. Available at specialist NZ plum nurseries. Deciduous, growing to 5m×3m in a sunny, well-drained position.
