Ben Ard

Ben Ard is a black currant variety grown exclusively in New Zealand — it is not commercially cultivated anywhere else in the world. It produces large, firm berries with a sweet, low-acid flavour and has the highest anthocyanin levels of any commercially grown black currant variety internationally, making it the preferred variety for health supplements and functional food applications. A spreading, vigorous bush growing to about 1.5m. Self-fertile but yields improve when planted with another variety. Rich in vitamin C. Available at Greenleaf, Big Jim's and garden centres nationwide.
