Barcelona is the most widely grown hazelnut variety in the world — a vigorous producer of large, high-quality nuts with rich flavour. A standard and reliable hazelnut recommended as a pollinator for other varieties including Tonda Romana and Tonda di Giffoni. Bud burst occurs early September. Vigorous growth habit. Deciduous shrub to 5m. Nuts harvested March to April. An excellent choice for both home nut production and as a companion pollinator. Available at Wairere and specialist NZ nut nurseries.
