Arapohue Red Leaf

Arapohue Red Leaf is a very rare NZ heritage peach variety with striking red leaves on the tree — a beautiful ornamental as well as a fruiting tree. Fruit has red skin, golden flesh and is freestone with red streaks around the stone. Outstanding flavour, excellent texture and very juicy. Originally from a woman near Ruawai who received it from an elderly Dalmatian gardener who treasured it deeply and asked for it to be kept going. A remarkable piece of NZ horticultural history. Allow 5–8m. Self-fertile. Ripe late February. Available from Koanga Institute as a seedling.
